Description: Assist with gardening tasks at one of the country’s largest public rose gardens, which also features perennial, herb and “backyard” gardens,
and is an accredited arboretum.
Garden work groups typically begin in late March and continue into October, weather permitting.
Skills/Requirements: Novices to seasoned gardeners are welcome! Simple, on-site instruction is provided. Please bring your own water bottle. You’re welcome to borrow our tools, gloves and kneeling pads; feel free to bring your own if you have favorites.
Hours: Flexible — come as often as you can; arrive and leave as you need to!
Volunteer groups, times and tasks:
Tuesday morning: 8:30 – 11:30 am — Rose Garden. Tasks include weeding, deadheading, edging and mulching.
Wednesday morning: 8:30 – 11:30 am — Perennial Garden. Tasks include weeding, deadheading, edging, mulching and transplanting.
Thursday evening: 6 – 8 pm — Rose Garden. Tasks include weeding, deadheading, edging and mulching.
Thursday evening: 6:30 – 8 pm — Backyard Garden. Tasks include weeding, mulching and some deadheading or cutting back.
Friday morning: 9 am – Noon — Herb Garden. Tasks include weeding, deadheading, edging, mulching and transplanting.
